The ISO/IEC 17025 Advantage

ISO/IEC 17025 "General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories"

What is the ISO/IEC 17025 Standard?
ISO/IEC 17025 was released in December of 1999 to provide management and technical guidance to laboratories.
It is the result of a partnership between the International Organization for Standardization and the International
Electro Technical Commission.  ISO/IEC 17025 replaces ISO Guide 25 and EN 45001.

How does ISO/IEC 17025 relate to ISO 9000?
ISO 9000 compliance does not demonstrate a laboratory's competence to produce technically valid data and
results. However, a laboratory that complies with ISO/IEC 17025 also operates in accordance with ISO 9000.

What are the advantages of ISO/IEC 17025 certification?
 1. Provides valid test data the customer can trust
 2. Strong quality control, qualified processes, and demonstration of staff competence, shall provide a great
     degree of data defensibility
 3. Provides for excellent third-party recognition to your customers
 4. Should lead to fewer re-analysis of samples
 5. Definition of responsibilities and authorities provides for greater efficiency in operation of the laboratory
 6. Audit and assessment activity by laboratory customers can be reduced through third-party recognition
 7. Increased efficiency will lead to a reduction in operating costs
 8. Reduction of customer complaints and a decrease in project turnaround time
 9. Increased efficiency will free up the laboratory's capacity to provide for increased business
